I'm wondering if this:
http://www.anonymizer.com/surfing/

can really keep others on the internet, especially an ISP from knowing what websites people visit with it?

Does it significantly slow surfing?(or just slightly)

has anybody used it?

I have found that www.the-cloak.com slows things down a lot less.

does that mean you've used the pay version of Anonymizer(as I'm talking about) in order to compare?

can your ISP see where you go?

I've never used the pay version ,I think it is the same as the free version without the delay, you probably would end up paying for what you can get for free elsewhere. Not sure about what your ISP can see.Look at wwww.webveil.com for more info.

By using our service you can be assured that neither your provider, nor your boss (nor anyone else who may want to spy on you) will ever know which sites you visit. We will help you bypass any site access restrictions either resulting from your proxy server settings or placed by your provider. After you have visited a website, the webmaster can collect certain personal information about you. This could include a large amount of sensitive data about yourself, including what sites you have visited (your surfing preferences), the city you live in, etc... Our anonymous proxy server does not transfer the information about the IP address of the client, and thus completely hides the information about you and your surfing interests. As soon as you become a registered user, you will be able to use our advanced anonymous technologies such as remove ads, remove JS, and remove cookies, among others.

What makes you think your isp cares where you surf? Unless your launching attacks or attempting to crack your way into something you dont have to worry about your isp. They dont care.

If you are planning something like this... my guess is that these cloaking sites would shut you down just as quick.

thanks all.

I've nothing at all sinister, unethical or illegal in mind(if you knew me, you'd laugh at that idea), but I just don't want to be part of anybody's(ANYBODY'S!)data-base or hidden scrutiny, that's all.

I value my privacy

Just a thought... I think that 'Shutmeup...' has missed the point here. It's not that you care if your ISP knows where your surfing but that now that information is going to be scrutinized by the government (if they get there way!) and, more importantly, archived away into a file on you that who knows who will be allowed to access (I wouldn't bet against the gov allowing records to be sold to outside agencies) As for the original poster, I am too looking for the answers here. I posted another topic before I noticed this one was already in place... sorry admin, I should have searched todays posts as well as the archives.

Im not missing anything. From the original post.. asking how to hide things from the isp i assumed you were trying to do something else. File sharing?

Does anyone remember the guy who stole millions from oprah's account? He was caught. Just about every virus writer gets caught. If these guys cant cover there tracks what makes us think we can?

It all comes down to what your doing. If your worried about file sharing or adult porn sites you dont need to be. No one will spend 50 grand trying to track you down.

If your involved in something like kiddie porn or virus writing then you do need to be worried and you will eventually be caught.
