I got a ibm laptop with win95 on it connected to a docking station. On the docking station there is a floppy driver and there is a cd-rom drive on the laptop. The problem is the floppy drive, it only works if you boot to dos or safe mode.
I've done a virus search, no help.
I've looked through the config.sys,autoexec.bat,system.ini
I installed win95 on top of the old on..didn't help
I've removed and reinstalled floppy device and controller device under device manager.
I've booted with network...work fine so I guess there is nothing wronge with that part.
There must be a conflict somewhere I just havn't found it yet.
I've looked throught kb's at microsoft.
I've tryed different switches win /d:xxxx
I've looked in the registry, I've remove all files from startup folder...
Does anyone know of any good web sites with information or maybe have any tips or tricks that might help me out...
it's a bit urgent

Thanks

do you have two seperate hardware configurations, one docked and one undocked?
or a letter reserved for the cdrom in either startup files or device manager?
if you can see it in dos / safe mode it does point to the virtual driver . windows should have an entry in the safe list corresponding to your device controller and floppy or it can't replace real by virtual. It is possible to manually insert this entry but it should only be done by someone who doesn't need me to tell them how.( not to be facetious but I have no wish to add to your problems ). This procedure is well documented though.
