Here is a weird one. Third time in 2 years on 3 separate computers me-98, w/ie 5.5 & 6.0. Dial-up and DSL. Four different Techs have fought this one; No answer, except to reformat!!! Computers cannot browse the internet because of dns errors. Tried IE and Netscape. Upgraded DUN, Reloaded IE, Reinstalled Windows, Replace winsock32, etc. etc. Computers can ping anything including the ISP,s DNS servers and espn.com, (by both name and IP). But with a browser they immediately come back with dnserror, page can't be displayed! Different computers, different OS,s, different browsers. They network fine. They connect to their internet providers fine. Scanned for viruses-None. I hate to have to format another clients computer! We work for a microsoft certified computer repair shop!!! ANY IDEAS?????

Search the registry for
Winsock2
Delete this whole key and directory treeuninstall dial-up-networking
reboot
reinstall dial-up-networking
reboot
and all should be well.George

For anyone else who has this connection issue and if you've tried everything this website will walk you through to the solution, which can be a long journey.
