700Mhz atholon
Jabil (Kadoka) AMD Motherboard (K-5)?

No DMA check box?
I tried the debug tests and DMA is supported.I tried adding microsofts .inf with the x-tra lines no change.
Contacted tech support they recomended flashing the Bios.Which I down loaded but can't seem to get to boot (non-system disc).
It is amiflash I looked at there site tried. The ctrl+home keys same thing. What command can I use from command prompt to run it?And do ya think its a fix for the original problem or just a generic answer ?
Or am I missing something here?

Put the flash floppy in, & type: sys A:
in the run (command) box.
This will copy the boot files needed to it.
One of the flash files will have an .exe extension.
At the A: prompt type the name (the .exe isn't required) of that file & hit enter.

Flashing a Bios is very dangerous and a small mistake can and probably will make your system unuseable. MAKE SURE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND EXACTLY WHAT TO DO! Read the instructions 2-3 times to make sure.

Thanks again. It went well to flash. My confusion and trouble was with the read me txt saying it would boot its self.Once I did the sys a: it ran just fine. I had already copied the bios from earlier exploration. But I didn't erase the original Blocked memory when I flashed it.So do I need to run it again when I decide this is a keeper or leave it be or does it reset itself? Well I'll be moving on to the original "problem".

From AMD drivers site DOH!

Q: Why has the DMA box disappeared in the hard disk Device Manager under
Windows 95/98?
A: The DMA box can only be used with the standard Microsoft driver. When a third
party driver is installed (such as the AMD EIDE Driver), the DMA box will no
longer appear. However, the driver is programmed to use all devices in their
most optimal configuration. Therefore, if DMA is available for that particular
device, the driver will use it.
