dll problem?

my computer freezes whenever i try to open a game, avi, mpg, or when netscape attempts to open a movie...i think it may have something to do with a .dll, but i really dont know, if anyone has any ideas or help, please respond, even send e-mail. thanks

no, its not that...im running a p2 266 w/ 196 megs of ram and an 8 gig hard drive...things worked fine up until about a week ago, stuff just stopped working

I just had a similar problem. I got some clarity by: closing win98, re-booting in DOS-mode, running scandisk (in dos not a windows dos-window- with /switches to clean up everything)this helps to clean up all the crap, then re-start win98, and open the offending application. At that point I got valid error messages and was able to restore a corrupted dll. Solved the problem. Turning everything off and cleaning up my give you valid errror message anyway.
