Division of hard drives

I bought a compaq desktop pro 2000 from a garage sale, formated the hard drive, installed win 98 , everything works fine , but i seem to have 2 hard drives a (C&D), with both having 1.2 GB of space, is there a way i can make this one and have a drive with 2.4GB of space. Thank In Advance

Does the computer have 2 physical harddrives or 1 harddrive with 2 partitions?

Keep Windows on C: and put your personal data and programs on D:. That way when Windows crashes (and it will eventually) you won't lose your personal stuff when you reformat C: to re-install Windows.

I don't know Compaq's but don't they keep the restore info on D: Partition?
