I had WIndows 98 SE on my computer then it froze, and when i restarted it, it had problems. Then the next time i turned it on it said Divide Overflow Error. Ive re Partitioned the Drive/ Fotmat, and this problem still comes up, what do i do. Im unable to install anything, and ive tried on another harddrive. Motherboard possibaly???

I say it is memory problem..
if you have 128 mb ram, take out 1/2 of it and see if it works.. One of your memory ram may be bad.

Divide overflow is not commonly caused by hard drives, memory chips, or motherboards. Divide overflow, stack overflow and unexpected interrupts occur usually due to software conflicts within Windows. I'll bet you recently added a sound card, a device like a ZIP drive, or some other device that is conflicting with existing software. Software conflicts like this is why many people hate Win95/98 and why WinXP is so much popular.
Run Windows in "safe mode" and uninstall any new devices or software you recently installed. If that doesn't work, then you'll have to reinstall Win98. This is a darn good reason why you should consider upgrading to Windows XP. XP is very resistant to this type of problem

Try temporarily renaming Autoexec.bat and Config.sys to make sure these files are not causing the problem.
Start>Shutdown, select Start in MS-DOS Mode. Once at the MS-DOS mode, key in:
cd\
ren autoexec.bat autoexec.old
ren config.sys config.oldOnce the files are renamed, reboot the computer and see how that goes.
