I reloaded win98 on my HP Omnibook XE2 and now the windows display is about half the size it should be (centered with about a two inch black border around it). DOS is full sized but windows is shrunk. Any remedies?

Right click on your desktop and select Settings. Look at the resolution and pick one you like better. HTH

Just wondering. What's it like in Safe Mode or if set to 640X480 when running normally?

If it's OK then it would make me wonder if you somehow lost your video card driver. If so it could be worth downloading the latest.

Gotta admit it does sound a bit weird tho.

I gave you the 10 cent answer. Sorry. Look into the Device Manager and see if your monitor or video adapter has an asterisk by it. You may need to reload the drivers or setup your monitor. HTH

The screen on a notebook is always like that before the correct drivers are installed for the display adapter. Go to the manufacturers web site and download the drivers. You might also find them on the CD that should have been included with the notebook. Another location is a "drivers" folder on the hard drive. I assume you reloaded over the top and did not format.

Thank you all. I had to reload all my drivers from the hp website. It's OK now except it's seems to be stuck in stand-by. Could be the battery needs recharging.
