Can anyone help me. I formated my PC,booted it all back up but I can't seem to change the colour settings to 256 colours. I only have 2 or 16 colours to choose from. I use windows 98 second edition.

Windows is notorious for not recognizing hardware properly. You need to update the driver for the video card. First find out what type of card you have, then find the proper driver. You might already have it or you can search for it on a site like www.windrivers.com When you have the proper driver, right click the desktop, then click properties, settings, advanced, adapter, change to update.

I agree with DMS. First find out who made your card, type of card it is and the manufatcurer website.Goto there website and download there newest drivers for your videocard. Once youv downloaded the drivers for your videocard goto start/settings/control panel/display/settings tab/advanced/adapter and click on the button that says change. You should see a wixard called (update device driver wizard)Then click next. Then choose to search for a better device than the one you are currently using (recommended) hit next.Choose (specify a location)then hit the browse button and point to where you downloaded that new driver for your video card on your hard drive.Double click the folder it's in and make sure it's unzipped if not unzipp it and go through that same process. Then choose the driver hit next button and the wizard should install the new driver.Once your done with that restart your machine.Goto start/settings/control panel/display/settings/advanced button/then hit adpater tab. Go down to the box that says refresh rate on it .Choose default and say yes you wan't to change your refresh settings. Now you should be able to use the colors your looking for. :) I know i made those instructions way to confusing .Hope you understand them .Bye
