Please help me?!?!?!?!
I just recently purchased a 17" monitor and installed Office 2000 (Professional edition). During the installation process, the display settings got all screwed up. It is currently set on 640x480 16 Color and won't change. I've tried everything and I keep getting this message " There is a problem with your display settings. The adapter type is incorrect or, the current setting so not work with your hardware.". I've tried resetting the settings and running a diagnostic on the monitor. I've run Scan Disk, Disk Defragmentor as well as McAfee Virus Scan and Disk Clean Up and nothing has worked. I've tried to install a new driver and it tells me that the one I'm using is just fine.
If you can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Just a couple of suggestions. Follow these steps:
1) Right click My Computer
2) Select Properties from the menu
3) Select the Device Manager tab (second from left)
4) Left click the "+" next to the Display Adapter setting
5) Left click and hi-light the actual display adapter that appears
6) Select the Remove button at the bottom of the Device Manager window
7) Select that you are sure you want to do this
8) Reboot the system and the problem should be solved
9) Return to Display Properties and reset the color and resolutionOne caveat: There is a remote chance that the system will want to be redirected to the drivers. These *should be* located in C:\Windows\System but could vary.
If this doesn't work put your head between your knees and prepare for a rough landing. Or repost.

Upon rebooting from Howdy,Howdys instructions if windows has failed to find your display adapter, Go directly to: Control Panel/add new hardware, and order windows to search for it. You may need your Windows CD rom handy. Still ending at a dead end, proceed directly to the next button to install it yourself. Just look for the display adapter it said you had when you removed it from device manager. I hope you either wrote it down, or remembered what kind it was? Good luck, and please post your results.
Terri
