Hello all,
Just wondering if someone might be able to help me out. I went to sleep last night with my computer on as I often do and woke up this morning to an odd display problem. The entire screen was a shade darker than usual, the icons and text were all odd around the edges (like if you used the sharpen filter in photoshop on them) and my start menu which is usually a light gray had turned into a darker gray. Moving through the start menu also produced horizontal 'shadow' bands across the screen wherever I moved in the menu. A windowed program could also produce this shadow effect. I'm writing because not only has this happened at my home computer, it has also happened at two other computers where I work, one of which had the graphics card replaced and the other which we're in the process of fixing. The graphics card in the station at work seemed to do the trick, but I just find it hard to believe that these graphics cards are failing this often. My home computer and the computers at work are all Micron, and all probably purchased in the same year (approx. 2-3 years old). Mine is a 600 and the stations at work are 733's. My home station has a geforce 256 and the stations at work do as well. If anyone has any insight into this problem besides the cards just randomly being junk, assistance would be appreciated. Updating drivers, switching monitors, and restarting the computer have had no effect. Thanks for your help.

-Brian

I have experienced a few problems the NVidia Gforce, AMD processors and MB's with Via chipesets. It was resolved by installing the motherboard drivers (4 in one they call it I believe) before detecting and installing the video card drivers. That is the short version. Somewhere I have a scad of notes on that few days in @#$%. Hope this provides an idea to assist you where to look. Good luck,
Kevin

I also had probbies with the nvidia geforce cards.

My MB cam with the ABIT 4-in 1 drivers. I installed those and they fixed problems with the agp port.

Also I found going to the nvidia website (www.nvidia.com) and downloading the geforce drivers for the proper OS, made windows dependent on the geforce chip and not neccesarilly the specific card itself.
