Subject: display adapter problem after instaOS: windows 98seCPU/Ram: intel celeron 533 mhz 1 |
Comment: I recently installed a new motherboard(Trigem Cognac 533 mhz Intel celeron) and lost my display settings. Only had 2 or 16 colors options. Couldn,t resolve problem, so wiped hard drive, formatted and installed windows 98se, should have been just like installing to new hard drive. Still only had 2 or 16 colors. There is nothing but windows on the hard drive at this point. Only have onboard video, no video card. Have not been able to find drivers that will work anywhere. Don't have internet, so have to use my sister's pc for internet. Need drivers of a size that will fit on floppy disk(1.4 mb os less). Also, need in exe format or instructions on how to install without install program included. Please help.

Reply: (edit)If you have on-board video the drivers will be on the motherboard manufacturer's site. Post back your motherboard model number if you can't find the drivers. If you have an add-on video card you'll need to go to the card manufacturer's site.

Reply: (edit)Usually motherboards with on-board items come with a CD which contains the drivers. There is a freebie called EVEREST that will tell you what display card is installed (and a lot more besides). It often gives useful URL's for drivers. Maybe your friend can download it and burn it onto a CD so that you can install it. Derek.W
