Added a new Win2K machine to a small network. The one Win98 machine has files stored on it for some of the other computers on the network.
But, it has two volumes labled "F" and "G" the win2K machine cannot see and trying to share the volumes produces an error.
Everthing else, printers, regular c drive, cd-rom drive can all be seen.
Obviously, I need the new Win2k machine to see the volumes on the Win98 machine.
Any help?
Larry

I'm not so known with network. May be it is because one of them are using FAT and the other is using NTFS? This may sound dum, but it have happened before, and a new program helped.
Sorry about my bad english!
Johan

Johan,
I thought that might be it also. But one of the other machines is running WinXp and it can access the fat 32 on the Win98 and the volumes, so I don't think that's it.
But thanks.
Larry

I don't know much about W2k, but I had a simular problem with my w98, suddenly I could not see my cd's and the 3. partition of my hd.
it is in the reg. for explorer.Try go to:
UserKey:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
The system Key are the same in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
to hide the drives you have to indicate the drives in hex and give them the value "1"
but to skib the hiding just type a serie of "0" total 8 in pairs.
I only changed the user key
Dont forget to make a back-up of the registry before you change anything in it

Problem fixed. Turns out they have some kind of legacy program that when run, mounts the volumes and they can now be seen on the network.
They had forgot to run the program the first time.
Thanks for your efforts. Really appreciated.
