Disk Drive Trouble (a:)

I've never really required the use of my disk drive on this pc until recently, but as far as I remember it has always worked fine. When I went to open the disk I noticed that it said 5 1/4 Floppy instead of 3 1/2 for the A: drive. I decided to try to open it anyway, and my computer froze. I CADed and I had to reset, when I tried this later I didn't have to reset; it allowed me to end the my computer task because of no response. It also freezes when I try to right-click on it. I could be mistaken, but aren't CDs supposed to be 5 1/4? How the hell did it do that???

You need to go in the bios and change the floppy drive A to 3 1/2" drive. then save the settings and exit the bios. Then in windows it should show as a 3 1/2" floppy drive.

just in case you were still wondering, No, CD's are not 5 1/4. 5 1/4 used to be the size of a floppy disk which got replaced by the 3 1/2 disk, the cdrom drive bay and the 5 1/4 floppy drive bay are the same size.

thank you, that seems to be helpful but I have no idea where the hell the bios are or how I would even get into them from that point to change the setting. if it is through DOS, there is no chance I myself could ever navigate through that; I've only ever used it to get into games back in the day and I know how to get out of DOS, but that's about it. Is there no way I could do this windows? If not, thank you, I will notify someone who knows what you're talking about and have them do it for me. Thanks again.
