disk boot failure

i fdisked my hard drive and now i cant get any thing but disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter. ive tried 3 drives and i get the same thing. ive set the bios to start a firts then reset to cd rom. still nothin boots i get the same error no matter what i try, cables are ok all lights come on cd rom opens but i still cant get anything to boot.

Set the floppy drive as the first boot device in cmos then use a 95 or 98 bootdisk to get things going.

Did you format the drive and load an O/S or at least SYS the drive after using fdisk?

no i didnot format, once i got out of fdisk i have not been able to get rebooted i just get the error

Dave, when you used Fdisk, I'll assume that you deleted partitions. I hope you also created new ones. If you haven't (and you did delete) you will need to go back into fdisk and create at least one.

Newly created partitions need to be formatted before any DOS based operating system can use them. Windows 95 is a DOS based OS.

Once the drive is formatted, you will need to install some software, namely Windows.

Rerun fdisk using option 4. Post back what it tells you.

hey thanks all i rechecked everything and cleaned the cd off and dam if it didnt boot and install for me. im thinking i may have had the jack wrong on the hard drive
