I am running Windows 98. After having the computer on awhile, the mouse pointer will just disappear. If I try hitting keys on the keyboard a clicking sound will start coming from the tower. After hitting Clt=Alt=Del twice, it will reboot and the cursor will be back. What is causing this?

Have you installed any new hardware in your system lately?? sounds like a resource conflict. These are a lot easier to diagnose in person.
Is it a serial mouse?? or ps2 Serial mouse could be conflicting with your modem...
Check for a resource conflict in system...
Right click on my computer and select properties and then select the Device Manager tab,
Click on the + sign next to the listing for your mouse and then select the mouse that is listed there and press the properties button...
Click on the resources tab and check to see if there are any conflicts, with the IRQ that your mouse is using.
Good luck

I did what you said. It says "PS/2 compatible mouse port" and "this device is working properly" Still it disappears and the computer freezes up. I did install 64MB more of RAM when I updated to Windows 98. It did not have this problem before under Windows 95 and 32MB RAM. Could it be from updating to Windows 98? Would a USB mouse with its own driver installed possibly fix this?
