disabling anti-virus software

Please help can someone tell me how to disable my anti virus software for windows98.
(It is McAfee). I am trying to upgrade to win XP PRO.

right click on the mcaffee icon in the system tray. You should be able to disable it directly from there. Otherwise, go to properties and there will be a bar to disable it. HTH
