I used an un-installer from a German web-site at: www.directxbuster.de/index_e.html. Also, and I think this works better: if it has'nt been more than a few days since you installed that dang X8, you can restore a previous registry, in other words, go back in time, more or less, to a previous state of your computer, by booting into safe mode (consult your computer instruction manual), select MS Dos prompt by pressing the corresponding number to that command in the menu, and type: scanreg /restore. Make sure there is a space between the word scanreg and the slash. Press enter, then a list of boot-ups from the last few days will appear. Select the day before you installed X8 by using the arrow keys, press enter, and your system will re-boot and resotre itself to the way it was on that day. It only goes about 4 days back, so don't wait too long. What they don't tell you is that not many pc games are designed for direct X 8, and if they aren't, they will run choppy as hell. Thats what happened to me and I had to go back to Direct X 7.0a for my games to run well again. Good Luck.
