I have a game called starcraft and it requires directx to play and i have installed it like 3 different times and when i play the game the sound either has static then goes out, or it just goes out. I have it all plugged in right but it just always goes out (it varies sometimes it goes out as soon as i start playing and sometimes it works for an hour and it just goes out) PLZE HELP ME!! EMAIL ME AT keith16@conninc.com

i HAVE GAME STARCRAFT, AND I HAVE INSTALLED ONTO IT DIRECTX6.1. The problem is that starcraft is only using up 2/3 of the screen and not the whole screen. For some unknow reason it use to use the whole screen and has stopped using the whole screen. I have tried to reload directx 6.1 and get an error 14. Directx does show up when i go to find files but it is not in the add remove option. I am currently running windows 98 second edition.

I don't know either, but since installing it the game controls in many games are all screwed up!
If you get a response to removing directx 7, please let me know.

Help!
Direct 6.1/7.0 has messed up my games so that they can't detect my joypad.
Does anyone know how to resolve it!

DirectX7 blows!! I installed in and now all of my games requiring D3D lock up!! And you CAN'T uninstall it so you have to reinstall f**king windows to get things to work again.

I have a great problem. Because i can,t play the Age of Empires 2.
the problem is since i installed the Directx7.0.

(cant create DC), could someone please explain what it means and how to solve it !!!

I want to uninstall DirectX 7 too. Anyone with a solution how to to this?! Because my soundcard is not compatible with DirectX 7.
Please help me! 'cause my favorite game doesn't play anymore after installing DirectX 7.

May want to take a look at Microsoft's knowledge base article.
Q178644 - DirectX: Cannot Uninstall or Remove DirectX
or do a search on 'DirectX' and 'remove' to get more info.
http://search.support.microsoft.com/kb/
Basically you cannot remove DirectX once installed, but you Can restore your previous video/sound drivers. To totally remove it you would have to format and reinstall.

since i installed directx 7.0 my sound,video
is really choppy especially when i move around my mouse,i also found that when using
winamp to play my mp3s they are really choppy while i'm connected to the internet and at the same time moving around my mouse.it was also interesting to note that i had to reinstall directx 3 times
because it would produce an error message and then shutdown during installation.
what is this infernal thing that microsoft
has developed and how the hell do i get it off

yeah I have the same problem with directx 7 except when I try to load everquest or even dxdiag.exe the screen turns purple and freezes, how the hell microsoft ever got to be the #1 software developer is beyond me

go to site: http://www.ebrink.com/dxun/Direct.htm
You can download a DirectX uninstaller. This version uninstalls v6.1 and lower really well. Not intended for 7.0a but you can remove additional files on your own.

CURSE YOU, DIRECTX 7!!!
Ya know, Xwing Alliance worked FINE on my 333, but my 7 freakin 50 can't run it because it NEEDS, ya hear, NEEDS a lesser direct x with files seven doesn't have! But we can't uninstall 7 so crap on me. SIGH
