i HAVE GAME STARCRAFT, AND I HAVE INSTALLED ONTO IT DIRECTX6.1. The problem is that starcraft is only using up 2/3 of the screen and not the whole screen. For some unknow reason it use to use the whole screen and has stopped using the whole screen. I have tried to reload directx 6.1 and get an error 14. Directx does show up when i go to find files but it is not in the add remove option. I am currently running windows 98 second edition.

I don't know either, but since installing it the game controls in many games are all screwed up!
If you get a response to removing directx 7, please let me know.

Direct 6.1/7.0 has messed up my games so that they can't detect my joypad.

May want to take a look at Microsoft's knowledge base article.

Q178644 - DirectX: Cannot Uninstall or Remove DirectX

or do a search on 'DirectX' and 'remove' to get more info.

http://search.support.microsoft.com/kb/

Basically you cannot remove DirectX once installed, but you Can restore your previous video/sound drivers. To totally remove it you would have to format and reinstall.

since i installed directx 7.0 my sound,video
is really choppy especially when i move around my mouse,i also found that when using
winamp to play my mp3s they are really choppy while i'm connected to the internet and at the same time moving around my mouse.it was also interesting to note that i had to reinstall directx 3 times
because it would produce an error message and then shutdown during installation.
what is this infernal thing that microsoft
has developed and how the hell do i get it off

go to site: http://www.ebrink.com/dxun/Direct.htm
You can download a DirectX uninstaller. This version uninstalls v6.1 and lower really well. Not intended for 7.0a but you can remove additional files on your own.
