There could be a few reasons why it's not finding the host. Check to see if both harddrives have a hand underneath the drives, denoting that the drives are available for sharing info. Another big problem with these connections is the length of the parallel cable. Anything longer than 10 feet will give a "host not found" error. Windows DCC help section is not very helpfull either. Your best bet is to find a good site with instructions, troubleshooting, and pics to walk you through it. Some systems seem to connect with no problems, and others need to be coaxed. There is also some software out there(can't remember the name)that claims to make it a snap. Laplink? Anyway, here's a descent site that explains it quite well.

Download the instructions, which is about 20 pages with all the steps and pics. Win98 works the same way as Win95. You'll be working both computers at about the same time, and you'll need the reference material at hand. After everything is set up, it's a lot easier the second time to connect. Goodluck.

At lpt.com you will find step-by-step instructions here:
http://lpt.com/Support/DCC-SetUp/dcc-setup.htm

Also, at the download page a free utility is offered that will troubleshoot your connection: http://lpt.com/Downloads/downloads.htm

DPM220.EXE is the name of the file.
