Unfortunately I have been experiencing difficulty with the above modem, in short it will not ring any number. I can hear the tones as it attempts to dial out but then I receive a voice message announcing that the call can not be connected. It is dialing the correct number as I can connect my old modem onto COM1 and using the same Dial Up Network tone dialing works Ok. I have checked the stting on the modem driver and set it's country feature to Australia* which is right. If I set my telephony settings to Pulse Dial it will then dial the number OK although it then fails to negotiate the handshake to log on, but that could be a secondary problem. I have removed my telephone from the wall socket and tried the modem on its own at the point where the wires enter the house ie. no extension leads. I have tried using the Windows Dialer to dial my mobile phone and the number reflected on the screen is the number I dialled but no call registered on the mobile. I have reconnected and used my old computer and connected to the ISP site in Wollongong using the old system and an external 56K v90 Auslinx modem, to check if it was the server :- it wasn't! I sent this message to you on the old machine. The connection has been rock solid at 33600 now for 1 hour 10 minutes as I am writing this on my old system using the same telephone line. I have removed the modem drivers and re-installed them several times with no variation in the fault, I have also removed and reinstalled my Dial Up settings a number of times but to no avail. I would appreciate your assistance in getting this thing working as I am beginning to suspect there is a fault in either the modem or the I/O stage of the computer.

I had same problem and fixed it by unchecking the box which says "detect dial tone". Chris Lees.
