Dial-Up Problems

I have a U.S. Robotics V.92 Int Fax Modem and it has worked just fine (if not subpar) since i've had it until now.
Now, all of a sudden, it freezes up while dialing. It doesn't even BEGIN to dial before the whole computer freezes up. I can't even CTRL-ALT-DEL. Any thoughts? I've done nothing new to it. It just... stopped working.

Possibly the drivers have become corrupt.
Try removing the device and reinstalling the drivers.
If that does not work.
Remove the modem and reseat it to another pci slot.

Modems go quickly. It's possible it's toasted. Seems to want to dial up but can't which would cause a freeze. They're cheap, try a new one.
