Heres my problem... 1. I installed win 95 (disks) on an older computer (486-25mgz), no cdrom drive.Thought I installed all components but when I tried to install web browser (first netscape/ then ie) the program asked for certian files from disk 12 and then disk 9 (vxd.vxd, ftp.vxd,ppmac.vxd, nettapi.dll, mapi32.dll, and a few other files) I do not have the win 95 disks anylonger and when I skipped these files and continued to install the browsers,it told me that dialup-networking was not working right ect..I then delteted all the dial up settings/dialup networkingprotocals ect.from the network control panel and tried to install a copy of dun 1.2 i got off the net along with a version 2.1 of winsock and then tried resetting the dial up networking and protocol settings. This also asked me for some of the same files mentioned above in perenthesees. I thought dun 1.2 and the improved winsock would have these? /my modem connects to my isp and browsers load but I get pretty much the same error on both having to do with "not being able to find a socket connection ect..in both browsers. Is there anyplace to get these files from or a complete dial up netrworking/winsock app that will take the place of this so I can connect? I have spent numerous hours on the phone with isp techs and they are NO help. (I am using netscape 3.0 and ie 2.0-only browsers i could find on disk and that will work with my system requirements) Thanks, John

Where do all of these operating system disks disappear to? You're eventually gonna have to break down and buy an operating system. You'll feel immediate relief when you have these to fix the occasional probs and the software cops won't hassle you.

I have a set of these obsolete disks, and also can tell you where you can get them. They are not cheap. I paid $60 for them, but knowing what they can do would of paid $160 if I had to. They may be obsolete but I have revived many computers with them.

There is no cheap fix.We are almost all Microsoft Fans, or we would not be doing what we do. Buy the software, (windows95),and I will walk you through all the "fixes" to get your machine online. Chuck General Technician Dallas, Texas

Hey Preston,
I just checked out your windows 95 disks at http://pageosa.net/_Software/95_disk_images.asp. And guess what? These disks would be great if you want to install the ie4 on your computer with diskettes because that's what they are. I downloaded the first one and threw it into my other computer to see what it would do. It set up the Internet Explorer. Unfortunately you need an operating system on your machine to make this work, and that's why these good people are asking for help, because they have NO operating system to install this on. Not getting down on you, but please for future reference if you're going to offer informative help, check it out to see it is what they want first. I however do have a link on my homepage to a site where I bought my Windows 95 setup diskettes. So please just take a minute to check things out first. Ok?
