diablo 2 startup error

I just got this new game diablo 2 when i try to play it it starts to load i see the blizzard logos and then when its about to go into the game the light on the monitor starts flashing and the screen has a blue error message that saise self diagnosis pc display settings correct? then the screen turns itself off and i can here the music to the game but its not going i am currently running win98se the game worked with no probs on win95 but when i installed 98 this message came up please help

I dont mean to insult your intelligence but just to be sure, check and make sure you dont have to be in a certain resolution or color settings to play. I dont even have diablo but maybe you just didnt think to look at that (btw, i doubt this is it). maybe this would be a quick fix, if not, best of luck and sorry i am not of any more help.
