Hi everyone,

When I start up my computer and Windows95 starts to load, I get this message:

Cannot find device file that may be needed to run Windows or a Windows application.

The Windows registry or system.ini file refers to this device file, but the device file no longer exists.

If you deleted this on purpose, try uninstalling the file using its uninstall or set up program.

If you still want to use the application associated with this device file, try reinstalling that application to replace the missing file.

C:\antivirus\wimmun32.vxd
Press a key to continue

How do I fix this so that Windows95 starts up automatically? What is the device file? Do I need it? How do I uninstall it or reinstall it?

Thanks for any help you can give!

It is part of either Innoculate AV or Iris AV.

This one came from Packard Bell
You are right, the av. program needs to be reinstalled.
START
PROGRAMS
PACKARD BELL
SOFTWARE TRACKER
It will ask for the master CD. insert it and choose to reinstall
IRIS ANTIVIRUS.
Once installed and a reboot, you can disable it by right clicking on the
icon. You can their prevent it from starting or the Icon showing.I don't
know of anyway to properly uninstall it. Add and remove doesn't do it and a
simple delete will give you the error on startup.
