Open windows explorer and go to view, folder options, then click settings on the general tab. And make sure Double-click to open an item (single-click to select) is chosen.

Have used klez tool....which was successful...however,same virus comes up several times a day....it gets quarantined so not too worried as such but would this have affected pc this way or is it just coincidence.

at this point I dont see where trying any DOS commands using a boot floppy would help,I would tend to agree with the first post that the only option is to re-format and do a clean install as it sounds like the os is damaged. someone else may still have another solution??.

Reinstalling windows `on top' (without a format) is probably worth a try.

OK, one thing about the Klez virus is that it loves to hide in the temp files.

You can of course delete most of them thru Internet Options in IE, but I would suggest using this disk from Mad Boot.

Let it boot to the Madboot screen, (takes a minute or two) and the go to the selection for deleting temp files on the left.

This should clear it up.
