Using Win98SE Recent experience. When ever I shut down and turn computer back on the desk top icons are not were I set them.
I get them looking nice and neat then after a reboot they go all over the place. I set them up again and, boom they are scattered. Any ideas ?

Harry, do you ever see them move around or change when you move your mouse pointer. I saw this on a computer infected with the Magistr a or b virus. Richard

Harry, Right click your desktop, hover your pointer over "Arrange Icons", take the checkmark out of "Auto Arrange" and reposition your icons to your liking. When you reboot your icons will now stay where you want them. Hope this helps.

Also here is a program which will 'remember' the desktop layout and will restore them if they get out of place. Click below:

Richard, no virus checked this already. What about deleting icon cache in Windows\ and then let 98 redo it on bootup ?

Harry, My Response Number 3 and dmorse03 suggestion in Response Number 4 should definitely solve your problem. Deleting the ShellIconCache file has nothing to do with the placement of the icons.
