Recently, each time I boot up my PC or whatever, the desktop icons are scattered everwhere. I select auto-arrange by name or type or whatever and it's all as it was. Then next time around, they are randomly scattered again.

This just started recently. No installs or upgrades come to mind in recent times. Any clues about how to get them to STAY put!

thanks,
-T

It could simply be a corrupt shelliconcache file.
Restart the PC and hold down the left ctrl key until the startup menu appears, select Safe Mode.
Doing so will delete the shelliconcache file.

Rearrange your desktop icons.

Restart the pc as a normal start and your shelliconcache file will be rebuilt by Windows.

If that don't fix it then try Housecall free online virus scanner.
