I went into desktop properties, settings, advanced and changed the font size to large. Now I can't change it back to smaller because the screen size is too big and I can't get to the apply button to click on it so the new settings will stay. I thought the bigger fonts would be better since my eyesight isn't the best. WRONG. just screwed up everything.
Thanks.

My settings advanced is probably different than yours, but your keyboard will still work. If you can press tab until you think 'apply' or 'ok' is highlighted, then press enter to make it happen. You could also try changing your screen area (resoultion) to something bigger temporarily until you can see the button and then change it back when you're done.

Thanks Ryan77. That worked. But I still am not able to change the pixel size. When I click on apply after changing from 640x480 to 800x600 it asks to restart. Then when it comes back on the setting are back to the smaller numbers. I have a 17 inch monitor. what can i do?

Why is it when I go to change the pixel size I click on apply and it goes right to asking to restart the computer. I click yes and it doesn't do it the normal way. The screen is black and all it says is windows is restarting. It doesn't scroll through everything like it usually does. Am I in DOS and if so how do I get out? After restarting I am still on the 640x480 instead of the 800x600 that I am trying to change it too.
HELP!?!

If you are unable to change to a setting above 600x480, that's usually because the default 'Standard' video driver is being used. Have you installed the correct driver for your video card?

Was everything working okay before you changed the font size ?

Back in Display Properties / Settings
What colours are you on ?
16 or 256 or High Colour or True Colour
Try changing both the colours and screen area
Choose High Colour and 800 x 600

Might be that 640 x 480 is coming back because your setting might be 16 colours ??

Also, when you first boot up, does it happen to say Safe Mode in the corners of your desktop screen ?

Everything was ok before I changed the font size. That's when the color went screwy. I am not in safe mode. I have tried to change the color settings but when I click on apply before I can click on OK the box comes up asking me to restart. If I click on YES when it comes back up my settings are right back to 16 bit 640x480. It won't change. I am at my wits end. I can't do much because everything says needs 256 colors to run. I don't know what else to do. Thanks to all who are trying to help me.

You could try to restore the registry to a date prior to the font change.
Boot to MS-DOS mode and type SCANREG /RESTORE
Choose a date when all was working okay.
Worth a try !

Krystyna, Worked like a charm. Thank you so much and also to Ryan77, Dennis and Jim for responding to my problem. All your suggestions were helpful. I don't know what I would do without Computing.net. It's been a lifesaver.
