Is there a way to know what http URL to use to browse a web page when I have uploaded it by ftp to a new webhost's server, but they haven't yet told me what IP address I could browse it with, and my domain name's DNS change will not be in effect for a couple more days? They gave me an IP for the FTP - would the HTTP IP be the same? No URL I try works in the IE browser.
I noticed that using CuteFTP, when I right click on an html file in the remote window and choose Execute, it downloads the file and displays in IE, so it only displays correctly if the local window is set to the same folder as the remote one.
If I knew what URL to use, I could tell my website members and prospective members how to access the site during the period the DNS is in limbo.

I just pinged my site. The ftp and html both return the same ip. If your domains name servers arent setup yet and you dont know the ip i dont know how you would figure it out. My host emailed me the IP when i signed up so i could browse the site while the name servers were updated at dotster.com. Have you tried contacting the hosts about this?
Im not sure what your question is about cuteftp. I download my files and browse them locally while off line.

I don't know a lot about ping, etc.
I just tried this:ping my-site.com:
Pinging my-site.com [IP#1] with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out. Reply from IP#2 (reverse IP says this is blah-blah...London.cw.net):
Destination net unreachable.
Destination net unreachable.
...But I am able to surf and browse my pages.
So why doesn't it ping, and should I be able to reach my site via that IP#1 it gives?
