I have a dell latitude 610 that will not: • open some programs or files(word--will not reload program) • consistently gives the illegal operation message • hangs up after the message even after crl/alt/del • some program seems to have it tied up • dell resource/utility CD will not work Is there an easier troubleshooting procedure or....... Do I: • fdisk • reload system software and drivers???? If so what is the proper procedures for: • removing all partitions • allotting proper partition space • reinstalling sys and drivers.. Seeing as no one has responded for a bit, I might as well take a stab. My advice, Fdisk, then format then reinstall your OS, then your mobo drivers, then video and sound drivers, then do whatever you want from there. But you should install an anti-virus program after everything but games, games go last.

I bought my Latitude (Latitude CPi A-Series, IC Class: B ICES-3) from one of these Internet places and formatted drive first.
