Hola gang! I bought a Dell Latitude CPi 400MHz laptop a couple months ago and have been screwed with it since day 1!

First of all, I have a screen that carries a heavy red tint to it. I do not know how or why, all I know is that I was moving the laptop when it turned, so I wonder if I loosened something.

Second, I had to do a reformat of my computer after something went wild! I have the drivers downloaded, so I don't need those, however, I have this problem! Obviously to reinstall an OS, you need to boot from a floppy, then install CDRom drivers, but I cannot use both at the same time without a connecting cable for the floppy (which I do have). Here's my prob, I cannot get my computer to recognize whatever device (i.e. CD-Rom or Floppy) I have connected to it, thus I cannot put in Win98SE. I updated the BIOS to see if that would help, but to no avail! I am stumped, and gettng frusterated. A lot of my chasing depends on me having a working laptop, and right now, that isn't happening!

Which leads me to prob. 3, and this is with any computer I use, not just the laptop. I have a Sprint PCS Sanyo 4500 Cell Phone w/ computer connector that allows you to access the net using the cell as a modem. I cannot get my serial port to recognize (or locate) my device. Any way out there to capture the serial port so that it sees my phone?

Anyone who can help with the red tinit or reformat and start fresh problem would easily become my best friend! Any help would be greatly appretiated.

The red tinit could very well be a loose connection to the screen.
Have you tried an install of windows without formatting?
You probably need a driver for your cell phone problem.
