This is on a Dell Lattitude xpi its about 2 years old. The keyboard stops working after having the laptop on for about 5 or 10 min. The laptop gets hot and the fan does not come on. The fan does work I tested it with the Dell tools disk that came with the laptop.

if it is a dell that is less than 2 y/o, it should still be under warranty... go to support.dell.com and type in the service tag number. look under system details. taht will tell you what the status is of the warranty. If it is still under warranty, have Dell fix it. I've never had a problem with them.
1. That laptop's fan will only spin when the system reaches a certain temperature (HOT!)
2. Bios version for this laptop affects the spinning of the fan. To download the latest version of Bios. try this access this redirected url : http://kickme.to/filelib
3. OR, you can boot with your DELL Resource CD (if you have one). Run the Latitude Fan Test. If failed. You'll have to call the DELL number for support / fan replacement
