my win95 OS has crashed on my laptop so i decided to by Win98 (full version) to install. Because i could only get into a C: prompt i tried to delete the entire Windows directory and its contents and although all the individual files have gone i cannot get rid of the Windows directory and so my new Win98 will not load as it thinks there is a Win OS version still installed. How can i get rid of the older Win95 directory please?

Try re-installing Win95 first and then take it from there.
