...Not advised,... if you have spare drive , may try backing up using msbackup.exe to other drive, if you have cd burner, may try coping all windows file to cd's even programs if needed, if you think drive is bad , do scandisk and check for bad blocks, try defrag , reboot in safe mode(f8), try sfc.exe for errors, ?:)

I wouldn't even consider it. There's far too much interlinking and common files. Most things you delete will cause the registry to get totally lost.

Avoid BIG trouble and get hold of a CD, eBay perhaps?

You can't. The best you can do is see if you have the cab files necessary to reinstall windows. If there, they are usually in c:\windows\options\cabs or c:\win98.

If you do find them there, you can delete everything on the drive except the folder containing the cab files and then run a regular installation. Deleting everything can be tricky so if you find the cab files, post back before you do anything else.

If you don't have the cab files, are you wanting to do this because your system is having problems, running slow and just has too much crap on it? If so you need to remove the unnecessary software via 'add/remove programs' in control panel and/or run other clean-up software.

If you do decide to reinstall windows before you delete it make sure to get the licence key from it beforehand as it WILL ask you for it and by then its too late . . . . . .
