If you use Windows 98 any version, you can use System File Checker, to install these files.

SFC ? I am wondering.

Look, you are now in windows on this site. So, use your notepad to open a new blank file. Copy the following command line to it. Use highlight, copy (Ctr+c) and paste (Ctr+v) to play safe.

For %%F in (himem dblbuff ifshlp) do extract /y /a X:\win98\base4.cab /l c:\windows\ %%F.sys

(all in one line)

Edit the line by replacing the X: by the cdrom drive letter. I don't know, maybe D: or E: or J: etc.

Save the file as, say, repair.bat.
Put it on a floppy disk.
Bring it to your damaged computer.
Put the win98 cdrom in the drive.
Boot the computer up. It goes to C> prompt as you said.
Enter the command :
C>a:repair.bat [enter]

After that, reboot.
