Defrag Problem

Comment:
I have a P166 with 64mb of RAM and a 2 Gb HD running W98SE. I have just done 3 defrags within a day of each other only to have each one start from scratch or under 10% just as if it hadn't been done for a long time. Would appreciate suggestions as to what is probable cause and if possible a good utility to test with.

Are you saying that your Defrag reaches the 10% mark and then starts over again?
If not, all above are correct.
Tip: Use Ctrl > Alt > Delete to shut down all of your background programs except EXPLORER and SYSTRAY before you run Defrag. Also, disable your screensaver. This will help it get the job much faster, without restarts.
You should also notice that the overall Defrag process goes faster the more you do it. My first Defrag took about three hours. Now it takes about ten minutes.
Good luck
