defining PPP protocol

I'm having trouble installing peoplepc software. I have one of their installation CDs and when it dials into their system, it tells me no PPP protocols have been defined. Their email support is useless..tips and hints appreciated.

Pimpin a man - That error has to do with the Network . Go to control panel and NETWORK- Make sure that you have a TCP/IP listed in the network stack ....

yes it has client for microsoft networks. TCP/IP bindings to dial-up adaptor. Trying to use Bellsouth because they allow you to set up dial-up netorking and I keep getting an error 720 with that. So I've tried netzero, peoplepc, and bellsouth and all are giving the same error. No PPP defined...

just in case anyone is wondering, the modem had gone bad causing these issues. The laptop worked fine with a PCMCIA modem.
