Comment:

Apparently the program ddhelp.exe runs in the background on my Win98SE system from startup. I understand this is needed for DirectX--but since I don't watch video or play games, my guess is that I don't need DirectX. Ddhelp is *not* among the startup programs listed via msconfig. Can I disable ddhelp without any ill effects--and, if so, how do I do that?

That seems a bit odd. I have DirectX and ddhelp.exe but when I run a program that lists all the .exe's that are running that one is not listed.

Is it running immediately after reboot?

What method did you use to determine that it is running?

Hi Richard.

Look in -

Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

for the ddhelp.exe shortcut.

If it is there delete it.

Take care,

Linda
