I am trying to install the SR1.a to my Office 2000 programs and during the install it says it needs the data1.msi file from Office 2000 Small Business CD. Unfortunetly I lost that CD ages ago. Is there any way I can get a copy to use?
Thanks for your help
V

Watch updates to Office unless you have a registered copy of the CD. They have a knack of disabling your program after 30 tries or so.
If you have a reg version then fine, otherwise do you really need the update?

I think I need the update because my MicroSoft Word isn't working well (It is a registered version that I got with MicroSoft Works Suite but the data1.msi file from that doesn't seem to want to work)Maybe the update isn't my problem but I don't know. Word freezes whenever I try to open a template and sometimes when I open a document. This just started recently. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it didn't help. Any suggestions?
Thanks
V

Big file if I remember correctly. There's a lot of stuff about it if you go to Google and type the filename, though whether it will help or not is debateable. I get the feeling you have to use exactly the right version.
If you are on W98 you could always try "shutting down" to DOS and typing:
scanreg /fix (then hit Return).
When it's finished type exit then hit Return to restart Windows.
This could help if there is a "general" registry problem and cannot do any harm. I'm not confident that it will cure this problem though.
Word usually works fine without the update by the way.
Sorry I can't help any further.

Thanks for your help Derek,
My problem disappeared without my doing anything. Don't they call that Serendipity or something?
I do appreciate the scanreg tip though, I had never heard of that before.

Hi Vick
Err...um...
All the best faults go away on their own accord, without you having more than the vaguest clue as to what the trouble really was.
Glad you got it fixed, thanks for popping back (not everyone bothers to do so).
Derek
