can't print or read .dat file. is there an
application that will allow me to access these file types?

Have you used 'open with' and chosen 'wordpad' ?

i am using win 98 and i see no open with on
the file menu. you may have to direct me.

ok, go find that file again and double click on it. windows should ask you "with what program should i open this with?" or something like that, then you just scroll down (its in alphabetical order) to notepad. then highloght notepad and click open
