Am I the only one having this probelm???

When I get attachments in my e-mail, I click the link, get to a page with a button that says 'Download'. I click on it, and the damn thing starts to download the damn web page!!!. Just like some s---ty personal page on a lousy server! The page it's trying to save is called getmsg.htm and is about 17 kB, I think. I don't get attachments too often but it's happened with two files of different types (an install executable, and now, a winamp .m3u playlist).
I am using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.50.4522.1800, and the about box says I have SP1.

Do I have to download a new browser or what? I don't wanna hear that, cause I'm on 28.8 and 6.0 is about 20 MB.
Shouldn't Microsoft's prdoucts work together???

Somebody find this out!!!

You don't say (or maybe you can't tell) how large the attachments themselves are but depending on which Hotmail you're using, the free version or the one you pay for (both have limits on attachment sizes and overall storage size)Hotmail may be denying you access to the files because they are just too big. If you're using the free version and you receive an attachment over 1MB in size or if your account goes over the storage limit (I think it's 2MB), Hotmail will automatically remove the message and/or it's attachment.

There are dozens, even hundreds of free email programs ( You still need your ISP to get to them). Maybe you don't need Hotmail.

As for your comment:

"Shouldn't Microsoft's products work together???"

That should bring forth a few chuckles from readers of this forum!

Well.... my attachments are both under 1 MB, the first one was about 300 kB and the playlist (just the list file, not the mp3s) was just 18 kB...
And no, I can't change to another e-mail provider cause everyone and every e-mail list has got my hotmail address!!!

Damn, am I really the only one???

no, i sometimes have the same thing. i found this as workaround: when asked to save to your hdd, choose 'open from current location', then i get a 2nd time the same message-box and then it works (at least for me).
