Can the C:\Windows Update Setup Files be deleted? This contains setup.exe and .cab files. How about any setup.exe file being deleted after you install the program?

Click here to look at Delindex
(the code and notes) now.

Read the notes under section 5.

I assume you were referring to files in the C:\Program Files\WindowsUpdate folder.

Deke, If you delete the Windows Update Setup folder or the files within it you will lose the ability of using the "Repair IE" option as these are the files used in repairing IE. I believe what Renaissance Man's "Response 1" is referring to are the "Windows Update" files and not the "Windows Update Setup" files which are 2 different things.

Deke, I should have added that after you install a program you can then delete the setup.exe file you used to do the install. A lot of people save the setup.exe file in case they have to reinstall the program again thereby not having to download it again. But the Windows Update Setup files are a different animal as I stated in my previous response.

Deke, In my Windows Update Setup folder I have a total of 23 various files(.cab, .dat, .txt, .dir, etc.)showing 11.5 MB and this is all related to IE. If you don't need the disk space I'd save it.
