I have a CTX PR711F montor and couple days ago the screen started to zap and it's been zapping more and more frequently. it makes zapping noise as the screen image jumps (enlarges and returns to normal condition). please help!!
I hope it is still under warranty. It is the flyback transformer going bad, better get it fix soon before it will take out the horizontal output transistor too.

If the monitor has been around a while, there is a good chance it has built up so much dust inside that the high voltage (approx. 25,000 volts) is arcing through it. You can try to blow some of it out, but it may be tough if the cooling slots are small. If you are comfortable removing the back, you can CAREFULLY take it out with a brush equipped vacuum cleaner. Otherwise get a knowledgeable friend to help.
