CTL-ALT-DEL does not work. The DEL and ALT keys work, how can I test my CTL key? Any ideas out there?

You have two CTRL keys, it's doubtful that both would go bad at same time. Note that system has to be at least somewhat working for Ctrl/Alt/Del to work. If the system is totally locked up, Ctrl/Alt/Del will not work.

Using shortcut keys for the desktop, My Computer, and Windows Explorer

When an item is selected, you can use the following shortcut keys:

Copy a file CTRL while dragging the file
Create a shortcut CTRL+SHIFT while dragging the file

Well.....The CTL key is working. They all seem to have "electric" going to them, but the three finger salute is a "no go". I noticed the problem a couple days ago. Puter was locking up, then after a few minutes would let me do my thing..basically was just surfing. Finally, locked up for good. Rebooted, got an error message, ran scan disk, (the usual message, probably lost file fragments). To make the story short, used the "FIX" option, that didn't help. Reloaded Windows, that didn't help. Wiped, fdisked, reformatted and reloaded everything. Runs fast as hell now, but STILL no three finger salute.

Does it do the same thing in safe mode? Also boot with a boot disk and hit Ctrl-Alt-Del. This should reboot the computer. Does it work?

Dave, I booted with a boot disk, it rebooted and now the three finger salute WORKS. Course, don't ASK me WHY, but thanks. Kinda like a few things here on the farm. Supposed to work THAT way, but dont. They'll work if you pull halfway on the red lever, even tho that lever has JACKSQUAT to do with it.

The problem seems related to windows. Have you tried it in safe mode?
