I recently installed Front Page -MS on my Win98 workstation. I was unhappy with the performance of the web site I had created using Word 2000. Friends using AOL complained they could not load the pictures and there was no support for Thumbnails. Front Page cured this but I began to have other problems. Right away I had a conflict with my Office 200 toolbar and a toolbar from FP, something to do with speech support. I also noticed my hard drive would start running in bursts when it should have been idle. Then I found my system would hangup coming out of sleep mode. Also, Solitare would no longer run, GPF with Kernel. Culprit CTFMON.exe was being loaded on startup. Tried removing everything under control panel/speech and that stopped it from loading on startup. However, everytime I ran FP it loaded and stayed resident after the program closed. :( Rerunning FP setup and removing all options except FP seems to have cured it so far. Hope this helps someone else.

something else to do ,is take office 2000
out of the startup in msconfig.
this will speed things up.

leave it, if you use office all the time.
but for the person who just uses it once in awhile, no point in having it runnung in the background all the time.
