Creatures2 + win98 + Directdraw error

using windows 98 and a s3 trio 64V+ videocard, combined with a monster 3d card, the game creatures2 gives this error: [DDERR_NODIRECTDRAWHW], i installed directX 5.2 and even with DirectX 6 i can't seem to get this game working :(

My computer has win98. To start up creatures I go to start & then go to creatures2. The screen well go black and min. later creatures2 well come up for a sec. Then I go to start and start up C2 again. C2 starts up just find.
I had the same problem, but I set the graphics higher, and it worked fine. in control pannel, select system, then select performance, then click the graphics button. set it a notch higher until the game works

I'm having the Directdraw error as well! I can't tweak the graphics up any higher! They are as high as they can go! I've never had a problem with graphics before either. Anyone have any other solutions. Creatures worked fine on Win95, but WONT with Win98
