I've got a 2 1/2 year old 24x Creative CD on a Gateway P75, running Windows 98SE. For some reason the drive will no longer read CDs that were burned. The original OS was actually installed by a local PC store from a copy of Windows 98SE, but it won't read that disk anymore either. I've tried CD-ROMs burned from multiple sources.
It was recommended I turn on DMA via the Device Driver, but that is not even available as an option.
PC store recommends a new CD-ROM, but I hate to throw more $$ into this PC.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
