Creating PDF file with Word '97

Comment:
A few months ago I wanted to email a Word "97 document to someone and wasn't sure if recipient had Word so I saved it as a PDF file, no problem. I still have that pdf file on the computer so I know I did it. Recently however, I tried to do the same and the option doesn't even seem to be available. Under "File" in Word is the option Create Adobe PDF but the only option is "Print via PDF Writer". I don't get it. What changed that I can't do it now? When I loaded some other software that had Adobe PDF, did it install a new version that somehow blocked the option from Word? Any ideas on this?

I just tried to create and save a document using Word '97 (in MS Office Pro), but did not see PDF format as a SAVE AS option.
Adobe Acrobat is a trademarked product. I'm not sure it is included with Word or is available as an "option".
Are you sure you didn't just type a .pdf extension believing you were creating an Adobe file?

Ken, No, on my file menu it's not under "save as"; it's a separate option which actually appears lower down the menu below "print" option. Bill

You can't just "save" a PDF file. It must be printed.
Select the "Print via PDF Writer" and it will ask you to choose a file name. Ie: Somefile.PDF

This means that you have Adobe installed in your system. You need to wirte it to that printer to do the conversion. This is the option when you are using Adobe from another program. The other way to do this is to drag n drop the file into Adobe's window. HTH, wcr3d
