I am having big time problems with my mouse, in fact with any mouse I am using. I have tried 3-4 different meese and get the same problem. The mouse will get really squirreley. I move the mouse and it drags the pointer drags behind. It moves around the screen by itself, either up or down. Its not dirty I get the same problem with a brand new one. I have tried the wireless type with the same problem. I am at wits end over this. Could I have a virus? I have scanned my computer for viruses many times and come up clean all the time. Should I reinstall XP again, and if so could I install over my current version withou losing my computers content? Hope someone has an answer. Thanks for any and all help. I love to read this forum ,and thank you all for the great info you provide.

Signed,
Mad at my Mouse

did you install software with the wireless. I have an xp machine at home that still needed software for the wireless.

device manager and control panel/mouse/hardware says that the mouse is working properly?

do you have the scheme on "none" for now.

there are programs that maybe one of your friends/family could have loaded on your computer to mess with you. Could that have happened.

Yes it says its working properly. No I know nobody has installed anything to mess with me. No I did not have a disc to download, just looked for a driver and it said it was working properly. It says that with them all. Sometimes the mouse is worse than other times. At times its so bad that I can hardly use it at all, other times it works fairly well, then gets worse as I go along. Gets really sloppy.I have removed the drivers, and reinstalled them to no avail...same thing.
Thanks for your reply.

Dennis

Hi Dennis.
Sorry to say, you have a virus or a trojan. Run a good virus scan on your machine, if it is clean then download a program called Trojan remover and run it. Have a nice day Dennis.
